The folks over at Bovada were again kind enough to send us the updated odds for the 2013 Heisman Trophy.
Oregon Ducks’ quarterback Marcus Mariota was a heavy favorite to win the award after last week’s slate of game. However, the redshirt sophomore’s campaign basically came to an end Thursday night. Mariota struggled as the Ducks were dominated by the Stanford Cardinal 26-20. Mariota was 20-of-34 for 250 yards two touchdowns. He was held to -16 yards on the ground and lost a fumble in the game.
Every other contender saw their stock rise and Florida State Seminoles’ signal-caller Jameis Winston has become the overwhelming favorite to take home the award. Winston didn’t have much of a game in the Seminoles’ 59-3 win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (he completed 17-0f-28 passes for 159 yards with a touchdown and an interception), but he didn’t run many plays as the Seminoles picked off Wake Forest six times, scored two defensive touchdowns and returned a kick for a touchdown.
Here are the remaining contenders (with the current odds on the left and last week’s odds on the right):
Jameis Winston (QB Florida State) 6/5 1/5
Johnny Manziel (QB Texas A&M) 14/1 4/1
A.J. McCarron (QB Alabama) 16/1 7/1
Bryce Petty (QB Baylor)
Marcus Mariota (QB Oregon) 2/3 Off the Board
