The NBA has informed the Cleveland Cavaliers that backup center Anderson Varejao has received a warning for a violation of the league’s anti-flopping for an incident in recent game Saturday against the Philadelphia 76ers.  As the rest of the NBA collectively nods their heads knowingly at this clip from NBA.com, Varejao does a particularly bad acting job upon minor contact from Lavoy Allen of the 76ers and really milked it as he threw himself almost head over heels to the floor.  No call was made at the time.

Varejao has a reputation as a defensive player who is willing to put his body in harm’s way in attempt to take charges; depending on which side of the fence a critic falls, he is either a gritty hustle player or an actor trying to draw calls.  In this particular episode, the latter seems to be true.  Should Varejao be cited again, it will come with a $5,000 fine.  The Cavs prepare to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
