The Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Michael Vick has been out with an injury the past couple of weeks. In his absence, Nick Foles has shined throwing 10 touchdowns in the past two weeks. That could have Vick feeling threatened that he is losing his starting job.

“I’m enjoying it just like everybody else,” Vick said, via the Philadelphia Inquirer & Daily News. “Watching this team make progress week-in and week-out, that’s what we want.”

Vick was asked if he still envisions himself as the team’s starter.

“I don’t know. That’s not something that I’m thinking about at this point. The last thing I want to be is a distraction to this team. I’m just working hard to get myself healthy.”

“I do consider myself a starter, but if coach has a viable explanation or good reason for why it should be anything different, I got to understand that. He’s the coach. I’m the player. One thing about it, I’m confident in my abilities. We all know what I can do when I’m out there. I’m just an asset to this team as long as I’m here.”

Vick was also asked if he has been given a timetable for his return.

“Not as of right now. I’m still trying to gain confidence in it to push off of it and to go full speed like I want to. I ain’t there yet.”
