In the first game on Tuesday in the State Farm Champions Classic in Chicago, the second-ranked Michigan State Spartans defeated the top-ranked Kentucky Wildcats, 78-74.
The Spartans got off to a real hot start to begin the game, and it appeared that they may run the young, inexperienced Wildcats off the floor.
In the second half, those youngsters fought back to eventually make the game interesting.
But, in the end, Tom Izzo and his team and walked away with the victory.
With that victory, the Spartans will more than likely be the number one team in the country when the new polls come out next week, as long as they don’t lose between now and then.
Spartans faithful around the country have every reason to celebrate. Those fans that were in attendance in the United Center tonight are most certainly going to enjoy themselves this evening after taking that game in live.
