Tuesday night, Mike Krzyzewski will lead his Duke Blue Devils basketball team into yet another big-time showdown when they take on the Kansas Jayhawks in the State Farm Champions Classic.

I say yet another because these big time match ups are nothing strange to the may who may be considered the best college basketball coaches of all time. He’s recognized as that because of the discipline and honor that he’s instilled in the Duke program throughout his illustrious career.

Those attributes he learned while he was at the West Point Military Academy. That’s where he actually played–under another legendary coach, Bob Knight–and got his coaching career kickstarted. He’s carried those lessons he learned from the military institution into his professional career.

All they would really have to change in that description would be the names of the men he would follow in the footsteps in to maybe Adolph Rupp and John Wooden.
