Rumors leaked late last week that the St. Louis Cardinals had trade interest in Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and that the two clubs would discuss a potential deal at Major League Baseball’s Winter Meetings.
But according to Troy Renck, no deal is going to get done because the Rockies are not going to trade their franchise infielder, despite the fact they’ll listen to the Cardinals:
Talked source tonight..Nothing has changed w Tulo. Aren’t looking to move him, will listen to
#cardinals as due diligence.
There’s no doubt Tulowitzki is one of the more talented players in baseball, though with a troubled injury history and one of the largest contracts in the game, some have wondered if moving the fan favorite would be better long term for the Rockies.
Regardless, at least right now it doesn’t appear that’s of interest to the team.
If there was a team with young, MLB ready arms willing to deal though, like the Cardinals – you’d hope the Rockies would at least do more than listen.
