The sixth week of NHL action is in the books, which means it’s time for your NHL power rankings for week seven. Some surprising teams like the Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild have continued to play well, while the Calgary Flames have seen a rough adjustment back to their retaliative par.
For the second week in a row we have a few new teams cracking the top-10 as the Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins failed to hang on to their lofty distinction.
As in weeks gone by, a strict five-move limit is implemented to prevent overreaction in either direction. One or two exciting wins may land a team in the top-15 elsewhere, but not here. For instance, it took the Avalanche several weeks to climb to their current spot, while it’s taking some time to move the New York Rangers up the rankings.
