ONE FC should still have welterweight title match

Malaysian fighter Adam “Shogun” Shahir Kayoom and Japanese star Nobutatsu Suzuki were scheduled to fight for the ONE FC Welterweight championship at ONE FC 12: Warrior Spirit, Nov. 15.

Unfortunatley Kayoom had to withdraw from the fight due to iinjury. Suzuki will now fight in a non-title fight against undefeated Portugese fighter Vitor Pinto, who will be making his debut in ONE FC cage at the event.

Personally, I think they should make the fight a match for the welterweight title and then have Shogun face the welterweight champion.

Although Pinto has not fought for ONE FC, he has racked up a 7-0 record, finishing four of his seven fights. As for Suzuki, the Japanese star is coming off of a first-round TKO win over MMA legend Phil Baroni. All of Suzuki’s wins have come by knockout.

ONE FC is starting to grow, but there is no reason they should wait to crown another champion, especially if they want to establish themselves as one of the top MMA promotions in the world.
