Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu is known as much for his hair than the plays he makes out on the field, so when news surfaced that Polamalu would be participating in “The Maine Event” to benefit Veterans of Foreign Wars people were wondering how he would look.

It was the first time in a decade that Polamalu was going to get scissors chopping at his hair, but don’t worry folks. His traditional look is still intact.

Polamalu cut off a three-inch lock of his hair, so you won’t notice the difference.

However, it was for a good cause and helped raise awareness for issues that veterans face and Polamalu was happy to be involved.

“I understand the issues that veterans and their families face while serving our country, and I am honored to join the Veterans of Foreign Wars Mane Event, encouraging the nation to unite for veterans for a second year,” said Polamalu, via WPXI. “By getting my hair cut on Veterans Day, I am showing my commitment to the men and women who served our country, the real heroes.”
