Adam McQuiad left Saturday’s contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs and has yet to return to the ice for the Boston Bruins. He apparently injured his groin in the early part of that game, and wasn’t able to play against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday. McQuaid didn’t practice for the B’s this morning either.
Coach said Adam McQuaid is still day-to-day. “he’s not skating now because he’s not capable of it” ^CS

This is when having seven or eight defensemen that can step into the lineup helps. With McQuaid on the shelf and considered day-to-day, it appears that Matt Bartkowski will continue to play in that open spot on Thursday when the Bruins take on the Columbus Blue Jackets.
While it’s outstanding to have a guy like Bartkowski who can step into the lineup immediately, McQuaid is a very different kind of defender that’s tough to replace. He’s a big body that eats up more than 15 minutes a night for the Bruins.
Prior to the contest against the Lightning, Bartkowski had been scratched in nine of ten games. Now it appears that the B’s will be leaning on him a bit moving forward as McQuaid might not be ready to go for upwards of a week or so.
