Fantasy football outlook: Houston Texans relying on Ben Tate

The Houston Texans will have to rely on running back Ben Tate now that Arian Foster is out, and while he may have gotten off to a slow start in his new featured role, he could have nice bounce-back this week.

Tate struggled against the Arizona Cardinals defense on Sunday, but that is expected for any back playing in the Cards’ stadium, as they have a great run defense and shutdown most backs they face. Tate has a chance to rebound in a big way this week and make an impact for the 2-7 Texans when they face off against the Oakland Raiders.

They’ve routinely made opponents look like fantasy football studs. Just look at the seven touchdowns given up to Nick Foles or the 115 yards given up to Andre Brown after he came off the I.R. after recovering from a broken leg. The Raiders are giving up the 19th-most fantasy points to running backs, and Tate should be ranked as a mid-high RB 2 this week.

For the duration of the season, he’ll be a RB 3 or flex play, and this may be the one week he’ll be a must-start for most owners.
