On Wednesday, TMZ released a report attempting to connect Florida State Seminoles’ quarterback Jameis Winston to a sexual assault investigation from December of 2012.
The Seminoles would not discuss anything not related to football on Wednesday night.
They did, however, issue a statement.
“We are aware of a matter that was investigated by the Tallahassee Police Department almost a year ago,” tweeted ESPN’s Joe Schad. Because the investigation has not been closed by TPD, we cannot comment further at this time. We look forward to a speedy resolution of the issue. There is no change in Jameis Winston’s status. Coach Jimbo Fisher and Jameis will be answering questions about football only until there is a resolution.”

An attorney for Winston has denied the allegation.
Winston and the Seminoles will host the Syracuse Orange Saturday at 3:30 pm EST.
