Kendrick Perkins to miss the next two games due to death of grandfather

Sad news out of Oklahoma City today, as Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reports that Kendrick Perkins will miss the next two games due to the death of his grandfather:

Oklahoma City center Kendrick Perkins has returned to Texas because of the passing of his grandfather and will miss the Thunder’s next two games, league sources told Yahoo Sports on Wednesday.

Perkins won’t play against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday at Staples Center, nor against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night in Oakland, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

There are a lot of critics of Kendrick Perkins out there, but basketball takes a backseat in this situation. Times like these helps you remember that athletes are human beings. Our thoughts and prayers are with Perkins and his family during this time.

Rookie Steven Adams will most likely start for the Thunder, and we will see how he plays with extended minutes.
