Player dives into courtside broadcaster while on-air (Video)

Louisiana State was taking on Massachusetts during the tip-off marathon on ESPN. Towards the end of the second half there was a scary play when two players were chasing a rebound towards the sideline. The ball was going out of bounds and in an effort to keep the ball in play, UMass’ Derrick Gordon dove.

The announcers table was right there and he ran into Chris Doherty, Sean Sullivan and Bennett Karoll of WMUA Sports. The video below includes the audio from their broadcast, not the ESPN audio that would match the video and it makes it pretty incredible to watch.

Surprisingly there were no cuss words uttered, no “oh s***” but also no “look out!” You can hear the referee yelling for everybody to take it easy. You can also hear him yelling and instructing players to go around the table to return to the court not over it.

Chris Doherty seems to be the one who got the brunt of it. He did return to the air to say he was ok and a little sore and they got back to broadcasting.
