It was reported earlier this week that Florida State freshman quarterback Jameis Winston is under investigation for an alleged sexual assault.
From the ever-controversial TMZ.com:
Law enforcement and other sources tell TMZ …. a woman filed a sexual assault complaint with the Tallahassee PD on December 7, 2012. She claims the alleged sexual assault was commited with the use of “physical force.”
According to the police report, the motive for the alleged crime was “sexual gratification.” The alleged victim says drinking was involved before the incident.
The police report says on the day in question, someone called the cops at 4:01 AM. When police arrived, we’re told there were photos taken of the alleged victim’s injuries as well as physical evidence collected.
ESPN.com’s David M. Hale is now reporting that the attorney, Tim Jansen, for the Heisman hopeful says they have two witnesses that were there and can corroborate Winston’s contention that he is indeed innocent.
For now at least, Winston is not speaking on the matter and is continuing as the starting QB for the Seminoles.
FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher says the team is dealing with the “adversity” well.
“We’ve had a lot of adversity,” Fisher said. “There’s a lot more behind the scenes than goes on at football practice. We’ve dealt with different issues that go on during the season. Our guys have dealt with adversity and we’ll handle it.
