Well, that’s not really the case anymore because from the sounds of things, Carroll will be in the league for his 12th season according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Now I know it may seem like I’m acting as if he’s been in the league since the 1950′s, but the man is 39 years old and is still playing professional baseball. I’m not saying this is bad, I actually admire players who are still able to hang with the best of them when they’re in their late 30′s and so on.
If you are still in love with the sport you’ve been playing your entire life, then keep playing until they have to pull your body from the field. This man has all the respect in the world from me.
Anyways, Carroll elected to become a free agent last month after hitting .211/.267/.251 and 11 RBI’s through 73 total games with the Twins and Royals.
