Countless times, you hear NBA coaches suggesting players know their roles. Not everybody is an offensive force, despite the desire to score baskets.

Case in point? Marcin Gortat of the Washington Wizards.

The Wizards recently acquired Gortat to help with their interior defense and rebounding issues, with his decent offense simply being icing on the cake. Gortat however felt he needed to show off some of those offensive tools in a recent contest against the San Antonio Spurs. Only problem? It didn’t go so well.

Attempting to channel his inner Hakeem Olajuwon, Gortat found himself posting up Tim Duncan – which, despite Duncan’s age, still isn’t the most enviable position to be in.

Gortat started things out with a couple change of direction feet plants, which Duncan didn’t bite on. Gortat refused to give in though and decided to go baseline, before busting out Olajuwon’s famed ‘Dream Shake’.

What it ended with though is Gortat falling to the ground, resulting in a turnover.

At least it started out looking good. Kind of. A little.
