It would seem as if the ball is finally rolling on Mission Impossible 5. It has officially been given a release date of December 25, 2015.
The release date on this is rather curious. Paramount Pictures has chosen to release Mission Impossible 5 on Christmas Day 2015. This is just one week after Disney and Lucasfilm plan to release their much anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII.
J.J. Abrams has his hands in both films, as he is both directing and producing Stars Wars while he is producing Mission Impossible 5.
Right now, the only actor attached to the film is, of course, Tom Cruise, who will reprise his role as Ethan Hunt.
The script is currently being written Drew Pearce, who also wrote the script for Marvel’s Iron Man 3.
Mark Bakshi will be serving as executive producer while Abrams, David Ellison, who also worked with Abrams on Star Trek, and Tom Cruise are producing.
As the script is still being developed, there has been no mention as far as plot lines, character roles, or any other information of that sort.
The film’s predecessor Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol earned just under $700 million worldwide, $209 million of which was from the US Market. Altogether, the Mission Impossible franchise has earned just under $740 million in US Markets and $2.09 billion worldwide.
I think it is safe to say that the franchise is a pretty good investment.
Mission Impossible 5 is scheduled to be released on December 25, 2015.
