Ole Miss WR Donte Montcrief considering NFL, will consult with Hugh Freeze first

Ole Miss Rebels junior wide receiver Donte Montcrief is seriously considering becoming an early entrant into next year’s 2014 NFL Draft, and with good reason. In the last three games, Montcrief has caught for over 100 yards in each of those and has 41 catches on the season for 647 yards and five scores. Plus, there’s still about four more games to go for him to break the 1,000-yard plateau.

So, yes, Montcrief has every reason to be considering cashing in on his talents while he’s hot. But, he’s also said that he’ll value the opinion of his head coach, Hugh Freeze, the most while he attempts to make that final decision:

“It’s just whatever coach Freeze thinks is best, I could come back or leave. Whatever he says, I’m going to go with it.”

If that’s the way it’s going to go, then I would almost certainly expect to see Montcrief back in a Rebels uniform next season.

Either way, whether he stays or goes, there’s no doubt that he keeps progressing by the week and has the makings of someone that’s going to be a joy to watch for years to come, on any level.
