Bellator 108 results: Patricio ‘Pitbull’ destroys Justin Wilcox in Round 1

Tonight, at Bellator 108, Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire will take on Justin Wilcox in the Featherweight tournament final. The winner of this bout is guaranteed a shot at newly minted Featherweight champion, Daniel Straus. Pitbull already has a victory over Straus back at Bellator 45 in 2011. Wilcox defeated Akop Stepanyan and Joe Taimanglo in the tournament thus far. Pitbull has defeated Diego Nunes and Fabricio Guerreiro to get to the final. This will be Pitbull’s third Featherweight tournament final in Bellator.

Round 1: Wilcox rushes in with a 1-2 to start and they headbutt. Nice left hand from Pitbull hurts Wilcox. Wilcox take down is stuffed from Pitbull. Flying knee from Wilcox is blocked. Inside leg kick by Pitbull. Pitbull sprawls again. Another left lands for Pitbull and he is swarming! Pitbull is reigning down ground and pound, but gets up. Wilcox lands a right of his own. Both men are feinting. Big overhand right from Pitbull. Pitbull lands a 1-2 and Wilcox is hurt! Pitbull is reigning down haymakers and Wilcox is somehow surviving. Wilcox gets up and eats a knee and a big left. Pitbull is swarming and the ref has to stop it. Wilcox gets up again, but Pitbull is relentless. Wilcox is flattened and the ref finally calls an end to it.
