Bellator 108 results: Vitaly Minakov dominates Alexander Volkov to become the Bellator Heavyweight champion

Tonight the Bellator Heavyweight title is on the line when Alexander Volkov fights Vitaly Minakov in the co-main event of the evening. Minakov is an undefeated 12-0 prospect looking to become the new Bellator champion. He will have a stiff test against the savvy striker that is the Bellator Heavyweight champion, Alexander Volkov. Volkov has reeled off 10 straight victories on his way to becoming the champion. The winner of this fight will fight recent Heavyweight tournament winner, Cheick Kongo, in the near future.

Round 1: They touch gloves to start. Minakov misses two takedowns early and eats a few jabs and a push kick from Volkov. Minakov lands a big knee and elbow on the fence. Minakov working the body. Minakov goes for a belly to belly suplex, but Volkov lands right on top of him. Minakov with a quick sweep and he is in Volkov’s guard. Minakov is landing elbows over and over here. Shoulder strikes as well from Minakov. Minakov is warned to keep busy, and the ref stands them up. Volkov with a push kick and a nice combination. HUGE UPPERCUT FROM MINAKOV! Volkov is absolutely rocked and Minakov is swarming! Thunderous blows landing over and over for Minakov and referee Dan Miragliotta stops the fight. Volkov looked to recover, but Minakov was landing a lot of shots. Not a bad stoppage, but maybe a tad bit early. Vitaly Minakov is the new Bellator Heavyweight champion.
