Former Washington Redskins great and seven time Pro Bowl defensive back Darrell Green isn’t buying into the Robert Griffin III hype, at least that’s how it sounds from his most recent comments regarding RGIII.

Green questioned the game and leadership of Griffin, suggesting that the Redskins quarterback isn’t a leader:

"“I think that’s the problem,” Green answered. “I think it’s SUPER important to have leadership, and I don’t think he really IS the leader. . . ."

Green went on to suggest that he’s not sure if the Redskins even have a leader and hinted that Griffin’s running ways ‘doesn’t work’.

In regards to being a leader, not everybody has to lead vocally as some can lead by example. Whether or not Griffin does either is up for opinion, though, Green seemingly doesn’t think that’s the case.

It’s also difficult to say that the running quarterback philosophy and play style doesn’t work as it’s likely on a player-by-player basis. Not to mention, Griffin hasn’t even been running for the most part and when he did in the past, statistically, the numbers were there.

Intriguing comments though.
