Ecuador and Argentina have already punched their tickets to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. That means there is no World Cup qualifying, that this is simply a friendly. That doesn’t mean these teams won’t take it seriously as they try to prepare for the tournament though.
“Ecuador have a very dangerous team, they are physically exuberant with good movement down the wings,” Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella said, via ESPN FC. “But I do not know if the coach is going to field an experienced squad or not. There is a chance to put two different teams up for these games. The aim, besides winning, is to give minutes to some players who have played very little or not at all.”
“This match gives us the chance to practise all the good things we did during the qualifiers,” Ecuador midfielder Cristian Noboa said. “If we want to beat Argentina we will need to keep hold of the ball and defend well.”
