On Thursday afternoon, CBS’s Jon Heyman reported that the New York Yankees had interest in free agent designated hitter/first baseman Kendrys Morales.
The interest made sense in some ways considering the Yankees needed to add some pop to their lineup, but in other ways, not so much considering the team already has Mark Teixeira and the fact that Morales would cost a draft pick.
That could be the reason the Yankees’ interest in Morales is dying out, at least according to Mark Feinsand who says the Bronx Bombers don’t have Morales on their radar:
Source said Kendrys Morales is “not on the Yankees radar at all.” Way too many spots to fill to spend major $ on a first baseman/DH.
As Feinsand suggests, the Yankees have a lot of voids to fill and Morales’ position isn’t one. Yes, he does bring with him some solid offense, which the Yankees could use but they’ll likely attempt to find that at more useful positions on the field rather than at first base/designated hitter.
