According to the Denver Post, former right handed utility man Eric Young Sr. is slowly emerging as the Colorado Rockies top choice to coach first base this season.

Eric Young Sr., of course is the father of Eric Young Jr. who started his Major League career with the Colorado Rockies back in 2009 and played for them until 2013.

Young Jr. is currently the reigning National League Stolen Base Champion and currently plays for the New York Mets. Just like his Father, Eric plays both outfield and second base, so the apple doesn’t fall that far from the tree when it comes to talent.

Now back to Pops. Young Sr. played Major League baseball from 1992 up until 2006 where he finished his career with the Texas Rangers, which happened to be his second stint with the team. He played for the Rockies from 1993 to 1997, which happened to be the longest he’s spent with a team in his career.

He’s a former first base coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks, so he has experience with the position and could become a big league manager in the future. But for right now, he’ll more than likely hold down the first base coaching job for awhile.
