What a week it’s been for sports fans in Lawrence, KS.

Earlier this week, the Kansas Jayhawks basketball team and their dynamic freshman, Andrew Wiggins, got a huge victory over the Duke Blue Devils. But, a lot of people could’ve seen that one coming.

What happened on the football field in Lawrence today, nobody saw coming.

Charlie Weis and the football team upset the West Virginia Mountaineers at home, 31-19. Not only did they beat the Mountaineers, it was a manhandling.

The dominant win over WVU today was even more significant because it snapped Kansas’ 27-game Big 12 Conference losing streak.

Running back James Sims was the man that led the charge for Kansas as he turned in a performance for the ages. Sims rushed for 211 yards on 22 carries and scored three touchdowns. The senior refused to go out this season with that conference losing streak still intact, so he handled business all by himself.

Big congratulations are in order to the Jayhawks’ fans and players on the tremendous win today.
