MLB rumors: Chris Young says he's open to playing for Houston Astros

The Houston Astros aren’t exactly a hot spot for free agents, but that doesn’t seemingly bother Chris Young who said he’s open to the idea of playing for his hometown Astros.

Young, who was formerly viewed as a franchise cornerstone for the Arizona Diamondbacks never lived up to the hype and after a few disappointing seasons, was traded to the Oakland Athletics where the disappointment only grew.

Now hoping for a change of scenery, Young is hoping his unique combo of power and speed will be intriguing enough to get an MLB contract and would be more than happy to receive such from the Houston Astros:

“Every team is an option,” said Young, who went to Houston baseball power Bellaire High School. “I love Houston. I’m from Houston and play well in Houston and always have. Something about being home that’s refreshing to me. I love everything about the city and the team. They’re growing, and I feel they’re going to make some moves here soon. They have a good future. I’m open to all the possibilities.”

The New York Mets have also reportedly expressed interest in Young.
