Things aren’t going so well for Iman Shumpert in New York after rumors leaked that the Knicks were exploring trade opportunities for the third year veteran.
In recent days we’ve seen Shumpert express his displeasure with the rumors, both in the media and apparently in an animated exchange with head coach Mike Woodson.
Reports leaked that the Denver Nuggets had interest in the former 2011 first round pick, but according to ESPN’s Marc Stein, it’s also being reported that the Sacramento Kings are gauging how well Shumpert would fit on their team:
Word is that the Nuggets do have a level interest — just not if the Knicks keep asking them to part with Kenneth Faried in exchange — while Sacramento is also said to be gauging how Shumpert might fit in.
Sacramento has been getting absolutely zero production from their small forward spot, so Shumpert would be an obvious upgrade despite the fact that he hasn’t exactly been setting the world on fire.
There’s no word on what would be returning to the Knicks in such a trade scenario, though the Kings have reportedly been open to trading Jimmer Fredette, especially after not exercising the final year of his rookie contract.
