Pats CB Dennard unlikely to play Monday against Panthers

It’s good news that, going against the streaking Carolina Panthers Monday night, New England Patriots starting cornerback Aqib Talib is scheduled to return from a five-game absence. It’s actually great news, especially now that cornerback Alfonzo Dennard is almost certainly going to miss the game.

According to Nick Underhill of, via Pro Football Talk, Dennard is unlikely to play Monday at Carolina.

Dennard has been limited all week in practice with a knee injury. He didn’t practice at all today.

The final injury report for the game has yet to be released. While it won’t be surprising if Dennard is listed as questionable on the report, it will be surprising if he plays, or even makes the trip to Charlotte.

The second-year corner, a seventh-round pick for the Patriots last year, has 34 combined tackles and one interception this season.

Safety Steve Gregory also missed practice with a thumb injury.
