D-III guard Jack Taylor scores 109 points

Division III guard Jack Taylor is proving he isn’t a one hit wonder. The Grinnell College guard shocked the basketball community when he scored 138 points in a single game last season. To open this season he scored 71 point, an impressive feat but not at all close to his record.

He got closer to breaking that record on Sunday afternoon against Crossroads. Grinnell won the game 173-123, a whooping 50-point margin. Taylor scored 109 points. He was 35 of 70 from the field, 24 of 48 behind the arc. That is a perfect 50 percent shooting in both statistical categories.

The 109 points in a game is the third highest mark in NCAA history, at any level of competition. The obvious criticism is that he takes a ton of shots, but to score a 173 points so does the rest of his team. You’d think at this point some NBA team will at least invite him to a training camp to see what is going on with this kid.

In case you were curious, he had 47 points at the half.
