MLB rumors: San Francisco Giants open to trading Pablo Sandoval?

In recent weeks, we’ve heard that teams have been calling the San Francisco Giants, hoping to swing a trade for the talented though physically unfit Pablo Sandoval. But despite the interest, reports have surfaced suggesting that the Giants aren’t open to dealing their third baseman, however, Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe apparently hears differently.

According to Cafardo, Sandoval is indeed available in a trade:

Sandoval is available in a deal, but it’s certainly a case of buyer beware because of his weight issues.

The Giants’ front office has continually stressed the importance of staying healthy and keeping weight down to Sandoval, something he’s struggled to do during his career.

Sandoval, who spent the 2010 offseason training at a near obsessive pace after falling out of favor seemingly regressed, from a health standpoint, this past season.

It would take quite an offer for the Giants to part with their talented third baseman, but at least according to Cafardo, they’re willing to listen.

Sandoval is signed through the 2014 season with $8.25 million due to the Panda this coming year.
