The Cleveland Cavaliers had guard Dion Waiters back at practice Monday, according to Bob Finnan of the The News-Herald.
Waiters has missed the better part of a week and has not played in either of the Cavaliers’ last two games. Waiters didn’t even make the trip to Washington for Saturday’s game against the Wizards.
On Sunday, rumors began to swirl that Waiters may have been faking his illness as an excuse because he knew Cavaliers’ head coach Mike Brown was going to remove Waiters from the starting lineup.
After a terrible start to what was supposed to be a promising season, the Cavaliers held a player’s only meeting. Waiters is trying to kill any rumors that there was a fight during the player’s only meeting, telling reporters “we’re a family.”
On the season, the fourth overall pick of the 2012 draft is averaging 13.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
A victory over the Wizards Saturday and the return of Waiters should help both parties begin to fix their reputations.
