Baylor Bears lose LT Spencer Drango

It’s been a magical season for the Baylor Bears. They have blown out the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Tech Raiders in consecutive weeks, are 9-0 and will almost certainly be ranked #3 in next week’s BCS Standings if they can knock off the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Stillwater, Oklahoma Saturday night.

For the second straight week, the Bears lost a key offensive player.

Last week, during the victory over the Sooners, the Bears lost wide receiver Tevin Reese, who had 33 receptions for 824 yards and eight touchdowns and was averaging an incredible 25.0 yards per catch on the season, to wrist surgery.

On Tuesday, the Bears learned they could now be without starting left tackle Spencer Drango for the rest of the season .

Drango, a 6’6, 315 blindside blocker from Cedar Point, Texas, will miss the remainder of the season. Drango, sophomore, will undergo back surgery to fix a ruptured disc.

After taking a redshirt in 2011, Drango became the full time starter at left tackle in 2012, starting all 13 games.

Pat Colbert, a 6’5, 305 lb. redshirt sophomore, is listed at Drango’s backup.

The Bears and Cowboys will kickoff at 8:00 pm EST Saturday. The game is on ABC.
