As the host nation, Brazil has already qualified for the 2014 World Cup. Chile has also qualified by finishing in third place in the CONMEBOL Round Robin qualifying. The two teams are playing a friendly in Canada to get a little practice ahead of the tournament, but Brazil is already oozing with confidence.
“Brazil will be champions,” Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari said, via ESPN FC. “If I didn’t believe we could win the World Cup, I would not coach the team. I would be sitting at home.”
Chile beat England and are looking to get a win against Brazil to really cement some confidence in the squad.
“Brazil are a great team and maybe better than England in individual talent,” midfielder Marcelo Diaz said. “We must get ready in the best possible way. We always say we have a great national team and we’ll see what happens in the World Cup.
“We cannot rush things. We must keep working very, very hard to reach this important championship in the best shape.”
