We’ve heard in recent weeks that Steve Nash could be medically forced to retire, though, the ideas were thought to be a bit premature. However, veteran NBA scribe Peter Vecsey says he’s heard that Nash is seriously considering retirement, suggesting that the pain is becoming too much for Nash to deal with:

I’m hearing Nash’s pain is forcing him 2 seriously consider calling it a career. He’d still get $ this yr & next & LA’d get cap relief next

Nash has been a shell of his former self as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers and retirement may be the best scenario for both sides as the Lakers don’t want Nash on the roster next season if he’s only going to play in a handful of games.

There’s little reason for Nash to make an immediate decision unless the pain is completely unbearable, so he’ll have time to consider the move but it does seem to be a relatively realistic option for the former MVP point guard.

He should have retired years ago. Outright fraudulent to charge NBA ticket prices for a guy older than a fossil.
