Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is playing a World Cup qualifying match for Uruguay on Wednesday. His professional club, Liverpool, takes on Everton in the Merseyside Derby on Saturday. That presents some travel issues in trying to get their leading scorer back in time.
According to reports in The Guardian, Daily Mirror and The Times, Liverpool owner John Henry has sent his personal private jet to Uruguay. That way Suarez will be whisked back to Liverpool as quickly as possible. Suarez wasn’t due to return to England until Friday, 24 hours before the match. This will get him back in England a day earlier.
That means Suarez will have travelled 10,000 miles in 10 days to play in the World Cup playoffs. Uruguay holds a 5-0 lead over Jordan.
The Reds will want Suarez back in time for this derby match up. They’re challenging for a spot at the top of the table and this is a quality opponent that will require all hands on deck. He is tied with Daniel Sturridge for a team best 8 goals.
