MLB rumors: Athletics want to bring back Colon at affordable price

The Oakland Athletics have not hid their desire to bring back staff ace Bartolo Colon. Colon himself hasn’t hid his desire to return to Oakland, but in a relatively thin pitching market, Colon has salary demands the Athletics currently deem to be too high.

That has resulted in a bit of stalemate between the two parties and according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, Oakland only wants to bring back Colon at a price they deem reasonable:

#Athletics want Colon back, but only at price they deem reasonable. Hudson probably more trustworthy. Would have mentored Gray, Parker, etc.

The fact that Oakland was in on Tim Hudson (who signed across the Bay with the San Francisco Giants) showed that they might be open to move on from Colon, however with Hudson now off the table the Athletics may need to put their attention back on Colon.

Colon, 40, went 18-6 with a 2.65 ERA for the Athletics in 2013 and is said to be seeking a raise off the $3 million base he made this year.
