Danny DeKeyser, defenseman for the Detroit Red Wings, left Tuesday’s game against the Nashville Predators. According to the Associated Press (article found on ESPN),
He was checked into the boards on his second shift early in the first period by Predators forward Patric Hornqvist.
DeKeyser suffered a left shoulder injury after the hit, and was taken off the ice. It was also reported that he would not be returning to the game.
DeKeyser has had a big impact on the Red Wings so far this season, in juts his first year in the NHL
DeKeyser entered the game with two goals and ranked among rookie leaders with seven assists.
Among rookie defensemen, DeKeyser ranks second in the NHL in points to Boston’s Torey Krug (12 points), second in plus-minus rating to Anaheim’s Hampus Lindholm (plus-14) and second in average ice time to Nashville’s Seth Jones (24:04).
Hopefully DeKeyser can heal up from his injury quickly, as h Red Wings will miss his presence if he’s gone for an extended period of time.
