A tough season for Filip Forsberg has become even tougher. The highly touted center has had an up-and-down year for the Nashville Predators, and he has yet to really show the promise that made the Preds comfortable with trading Martin Erat away last season. We’ve been big fans of the youngster and don’t think that Nashville has really given him a fair shake, but that’s neither here nor there right now.
Mostly because Forsberg will be held out of action because of injury instead of his questionable foot speed with Nashville takes on the Toronto Maple Leafs tomorrow night.
This comes via Josh Cooper of the Tennessean, who notes in his game preview that Forsberg won’t be available because of an upper-body injury. He was just making his comeback with Nashville after spending a few games getting his legs and confidence under him in the AHL, but it looks like he won’t be able to try to start making an impact at the NHL level for at least another game.
This isn’t a big blow to Nashville since the team has been so reluctant to roll him out for more than a few minutes every night. He played all of 9:48 against the Pittsburgh Penguins after returning from the minors, signaling that the Preds are content to use him as sparingly as they were prior to sending Forsberg down in the first place.
