The Washington Capitals got some good news following the 4-0 whitewashing they received at the hands of the Pittsburgh Penguins last night. Mike Green should be back on the team’s blue line on Friday, which will be a big boost for a team that’s been missing his offensive presence over the last three games.

The team has won two of those three contests, but a shutout at the hands of the banged up Penguins underscored Green’s importance to the team. Despite the fact that he has yet to score a goal this season, the electric defenseman has 11 assists through 19 games and has cranked 50 shots on goal.
Sooner or later the shots will start to fall for Green, but until then he’s still an invaluable puck mover and an outstanding leader both on and off the ice for the Capitals. They’ll take on the Montreal Canadiens on Friday night, and will look to get back to their winning ways following the loss to Pittsburgh.
Washington struggled out of the gate and seemed flat at times, but they’ve really picked up their collective level of play in November. They’ve won seven of their 10 contests, and have climbed all the way back to second place in the Metropolitan Division.
