Cleveland Indians will listen to offers for Asdrubal Cabrera

I doubt anybody is shocked about this after what Detroit and Texas did last night.

That trade between those teams will most likely stay in the spotlight from here on through the 2014 season, especially if those teams make the playoffs. Now with the Tigers and Rangers making moves of their own, the Indians are open for business.

I’m not saying those two clubs are responsible for this, but it shows that just about anything or anyone can be moved.

Now according to Paul Hayones of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Indians may not be actively trying to trade away Cabrera but they will listen.

Asdrubal Cabrera is a seven year veteran whose starting to find that sweet spot on his bat as his home run numbers have jumped compared to his first four seasons in the league. The 28 year old shortstop had a career year back in 2011 where he hit 25 home runs, 92 RBI’s, stole 17 bases and had a batting line of .273/.332/.460.

His fielding has improved as he jumped from .971 in 2012 to .982 this season with just nine errors, 180 put outs and 314 assists.

It’ll be interesting to see who actually steps up and places an offer on the table for Cabrera.

Who cares what Cabrera did 3 years ago. 25 HR’s and 92 RBI’s. Respectable season.
Last 2 years he hit 16 and 14 HR with 68 and 64 RBI’s. Guess I don’t see where the improvement came.

This past season he had a tendency to ground into double plays and couldn’t get key hits in RBI situations.
    Where is that “sweet spot”?
