Where Dwight Howard goes, drama quickly follows. The guy just seems to be a magnet for disappointment much like the Houston Rockets heartbreaking loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday evening.
Howard and his Rockets built themselves a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter, back the Mavericks stormed back thanks to an electric crowd – a crowd that seemingly got under the skin of Howard who was given a technical foul for tossing the ball towards a heckling fan.
With Dallas down by five points and just under three minutes remaining, Howard had an opportunity to give Houston a seven point lead as he battled under the basket. Dallas fouled Howard, who tossed the ball near the baseline – directly towards a fan who was giving Howard a verbal bashing.
The ‘toss’ was by no means hard, but the officials seemed to understand what Howard was attempting to do and quickly whistled him for a technical foul.
Dallas converted on their free point and ended up winning by three, erasing Houston’s 14-point lead in the process.
