Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant took part in his first full practice since suffering an Achilles injury last season, this past weekend. By all indications, everything went well – better than many had hoped for. Bryant’s second practice with the Lakers on Tuesday though, did not.
“Kobe looks good. He hasn’t played since April. He looks rusty,” D’Antoni said Wednesday at the Lakers’ All-Access event at Staples Center, hosted by the LA Sports & Entertainment Commission. “I thought the first day he looked better than the second day. But that’s normal to have a little dip. But he’s not too sore and he’s playing.”
Despite the solid first day of practice, Bryant’s on-court game was understandably rusty but it was more body related issues after the second practice that hampered Bryant. Still, sub-par practice or not, as D’Antoni said, Bryant is at least out there and practicing.
He’s obviously still a handful of days at minimum from returning as his body still gets acclimated to an NBA game.
