LeBron James has many interests.
He is working on producing a TV show, has his own line of shoes, is a big family man, and even owns part of the soccer club Liverpool. Well, that bodes well for David Beckham, who is looking to bring an MLS team to Miami, and he may have found a partner in his search. According to the AP, Miami’s biggest star is joining with Beckham:
We’re working on it,” James said.
Beckham scouted some Miami locations last week. Beckham, who played for the Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS, has the right to pay $25 million to start an expansion, and is seeking investors to assist with the overall startup costs such as stadium construction and player acquisitions.
“I wish it was easy,” James said. “We’re working on it. We’ll see what happens.”
The MLS isn’t exactly popular, but anything that involves LeBron James and David Beckham will draw interest. Many people will use this as an indicator to LeBron staying in Miami, but I would hold off on that. This is a business venture only, and he is still heavily involved in Cleveland, Akron, and Ohio State, but his jersey isn’t wine and gold anymore.
