Matt Barnes has been in the news for some antics lately. He was ejected after a scuffle with Serge Ibaka, had some not-so-nice things to say on twitter afterwards, and was fined because of it. Now, he is making headlines for something else.
In a game against the Grizzlies, Barnes was poked in the eye by Zach Randolph, and has missed some time because of the eye injury. Now, the team announced Thursday that Matt Barnes will have surgery to repair a retinal tear in his left eye, and the minimum recovery time is two weeks. The earliest we will see him will be in December.
Barnes isn’t a starter, so it’s unlikely that the Clippers will struggle because of this. He does add defense and energy, though, and this team needs all the defensive help they can get. The Clippers are one of the best teams in the league, and Chris Paul is probably the MVP so far. They will need rookie Reggie Bullock to step up.
