With the victory over Chael Sonnen behind him, it seems Rashad “Suga” Evans may have his next opponent.
Evans, former UFC Light Heavyweight champion and “The Ultimate Fighter 2“ winner, announced on “UFC Tonight” that he may be the man to fight Daniel Cormier in the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix champion’s debut at light heavyweight.
Although the UFC has yet to confirm the fight, I think Evans would make a good opponent for the undefeated Cormier’s first foray in the 205-pound weight class.
Both Evans and Cormier have great wrestling credentials. Both men are also good strikers, with both of them having highlight reel knockouts against notable opponents. While Cormier does not have experience at 205, he has fought and defeated some of the best heavyweights to fight in the octagon, including Roy Nelson, Frank Mir and Josh Barnett.
A win over Cormier would certainly help Evans regain top contender status. As for Cormier A victory for the Strikeforce champion over the likes of Evans would establish him as a force in the light heavyweight division.
