Brazilian slugger, Thiago Silva, will face off against Ovince St. Preux at UFC Fight Night 35 in Georgia on January 15th in a pivotal Light Heavyweight bout.
Silva is coming off a dismal victory over Matt Hamill at UFC Fight Night 29 in which both men were completely gassed. To add insult to injury, Silva missed weight for the fight as well, leading Dana White to post this tweet regarding Silva’s diet and training regimen:

Dana White was clearly not happy with his performance, and it was likely that if he had lost the fight, he would have been cut. The fight was absolutely terrible to watch, and Silva will need a big rebound performance against St. Preux if he wants to stay relevant in the UFC.
Ovince St. Preux is currently on a three fight winning streak, including two inside the Octagon. In his last fight at UFC Fight Night 26, St. Preux knocked out Cody Donovan in the first round.
With the Light Heavyweight division being as thin as it is, a statement win by either man could mean major moves in the division. Opportunity is calling like never before in the UFC’s Light Heavyweight division.
Here is the UFC Fight Night 35 card thus far:
- Luke Rockhold vs Costa Philippou
- Thiago Silva vs Ovince St. Preux
- Cole Miller vs Sam Sicilia
- TJ Dillashaw vs Mike Easton
