Veteran infielder Jhonny Peralta has been getting some interest from multiple teams across the league, but there’s one who is only interested in him as an outfielder.
The 31 year old 11 year veteran has played the infield for a good chunk of his Major League career. Therewere three games last season with the Detroit Tigers where Peralta started in left field. He did fairly decent for just three games at that position as he fielded 1.000 percent.
Right now the Orioles have left fielders Steve Pearce, Jason Pridle and Nolan Reimold on the active roster. Peralta had more home runs and RBI’s than all three players did combined.
Pearce, Pridle and Reimold had nine home runs and 26 RBI’s while Jhonny Peralta had 11 home runs and 55 RBI’s. Not sure if Peralta would like the idea of becoming an everyday left fielder, but there’s a good chance that he could get some time in the infield.
Peralta is currently searching for a three year contract worth around $45-$50 million. So the Orioles are interested, but how interested are they?
We’ll have to wait and see.
