Less than 24 hours after shipping Tim Jackman to the Anaheim Ducks for a sixth-round pick in the 2014 NHL draft, the Calgary Flames have acquired a similar player from the Dallas Stars in Lane MacDermid.
They flipped their own six-round selection for MacDermid, who will be assigned to the AHL with the Abbotsford Heat.

The winger is known mostly for his fighting ability, and cleared waivers for the Stars yesterday.

This is the second time in less than a year that the bruising forward has been traded. He was part of the package that Dallas received for Jaromir Jagr last season, and now he’s been flipped for a depth selection in the 2014 NHL draft.
There was no reason to think that the Flames would be done wheeling and dealing after they traded Jackman last night, and it seems that general manager Jay Feaster has been burning up the phone lines to shake up his roster a bit moving forward.
These two trades are likely just preludes to Calgary moving out some of the bigger names on the roster as the season wears on. The Flames have clearly been carrying on dialogues around the NHL, and it seems to be only a matter of time before another deal is announced.
