Brazilian prospect Ewerton Teixera is making the transition from K-1 to Glory as he makes his debut for the promotion at Glory 13, Dec. 21.
Texiera will be taking on Egyptian-Dutch star Hedsy “Fighterheart” Gerges as a part of Glory’s Superfight series. This will be his first fight since December 2010.
Texiera currently has a record of 9-3 and has an impressive background of Kyokushin, winning two world championships. He is also the 2008 K-1 World GP in Fukuoka champion. During his time away from kickboxing, Texiera competed in mixed martial arts and has racked up three victories.
Gerges is 42-13-1 with 19 knockouts and is a multiple-time W.F.C.A champion.
Although Teixera may not as many fights as Gerges on his record, the Brazilian is no stranger to facing top competition. His only losses have come from Peter Aerts, Alistair Overeem and Errol Zimmerman, all of whom are accomplished veterans in the sport. In his last fight, Teixera avenged the loss to Zimmerman.
That said, Gerges is coming off of a loss to Zimmerman back in October and will no doubt be looking to get back on the winning track while Texiera will look to show that he has back in the sport.
